The ground rules.

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Composita (the “Service”), operated by Algol Labs (KvK 82057605, Rotterdam, the Netherlands). By using the Service, you agree to them.

If your organisation has a signed agreement

Composita is sold to newsrooms under a written Service Agreement, Order Form, and Data Processing Agreement. Where those documents apply, they govern and prevail over these Terms in any conflict. These Terms are the baseline: they cover this website, evaluation and trial access, and any use not already covered by a signed agreement.

What the Service does

Composita monitors news sources across languages, judges what it finds against your editorial questions, and delivers digests of confirmed matches. It also supports editorial production — drafting, verification, images, and subtitles — and newsroom coordination through chat, assignments, and notifications, on the web and through our iOS and Android apps.

Source content is drawn from publicly available feeds and broadcasts. We make no guarantee that a particular story will be captured, that an assessment is correct, or that any source remains available — publishers change and withdraw their feeds without notice. The Service is an aid to editorial judgment, not a replacement for it.

Accounts

Accounts on the platform are provisioned by the subscribing organisation, which decides who gets one and what they can do. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe an account has been compromised.

AI-generated output and editorial responsibility

This is the most important clause on this page. The Service assists editorial work; it does not replace it. Drafts, images, subtitles, translations, and relevance assessments are generated by language models and verified on a best-effort basis. They can be wrong, incomplete, or misleading in ways that are not obvious.

You retain full editorial control and are solely responsible for reviewing output before publication and for everything you publish, on your own website or anywhere else. Nothing the Service produces should reach an audience without a human editor having read it.

Notifications

The Service sends digests and notifications through the channels you configure — email, Telegram, and push notifications to our mobile apps. Frequency depends on how many stories match your watches and on the cadence you choose.

You can stop them at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any email digest, change or disable delivery in your settings, turn off notifications for the mobile app on your device, or ask your newsroom administrator. How we handle your contact details is described in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service: no attempting to disrupt, probe, or reverse engineer it, no unauthorised access to another organisation’s data, no circumventing usage limits, and no use that violates applicable law or the rights of others. You are responsible for having the rights to any content you bring into the platform.

Intellectual property

News content surfaced through the Service belongs to its publishers. Digests link to the original sources; we claim no ownership of third-party content.

Content you bring into the platform stays yours. Output the Service generates at your direction — drafts, images, subtitle files — is yours to publish; we assert no claim over it. The Composita software, its design, prompts, model configuration, and trademarks remain ours.

Availability

We use reasonable efforts to keep the Service available and to restore it promptly after an interruption. No specific uptime level is guaranteed under these Terms; a signed Service Agreement may say otherwise, and if it does, it prevails.

Disclaimer and liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including lost profits, lost revenue, or reputational harm — arising from use of, or reliance on, the Service or its output.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Dutch law, including liability for intent or deliberate recklessness.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes are submitted exclusively to the competent court in Rotterdam.

Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes are reflected in the date at the top, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms. Where a signed agreement governs your use, its own amendment terms apply instead.
